3 new medical colleges to come up at Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal


Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Monday said three new medical colleges will be set up in Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal parliamentary constituencies in Odisha.

Attending the inauguration of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital at Balasore, Choubey said the central government has decided to set up medical colleges under parliamentary constituencies to provide better health service.

Choubey requested the state government to identify land for the proposed medical colleges.

He said 5 acres of land has already been provided by the state government at Jajpur while the proposal will be finalised as soon as the remaining 15 acres of land is provided.

He also the central government is taking steps to upgrade the district headquarters hospitals to medical colleges to provide quality health service.
