Bhubaneswar: The officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs on Thursday seized gold strips weighing 690.55 grams valued at Rs 21.8 lakh approximately at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.
One passenger, hailing from Chennai, was detained after the custom officials found his activities suspicious. He arrived in Bhubaneswar by an Air Asia flight AK-31 from Kuala Lumpur.
The passengers had hidden the gold strips in the aluminium linings of his trolley bags, said an official.
