Odisha Tourism to pledge for plastic free Odisha on World Tourism Day

Bhubaneswar: To make the state clean and green, the Tourism Department has decided to take a pledge on World Tourism Day to ensure Odisha a plastic-free place.

The department plans various programmes to celebrate the ensuing World Tourism Day.

Under the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) umbrella, 27th September of each year is celebrated as World Tourism Day. The theme for the year is ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’.

Like previous years, it has been decided that a Tourism Walk will start from Kalinga Stadium to terminate at Utkal Mandap. Cultural performances will be performed during the walk at different locations.

Arrangements have been made to extend a traditional welcome to the guests at Biju Patnaik International Airport and Railway station at Bhubaneswar and Puri.

Coinciding with the event, a Food Festival will be organised at IDCO Exhibition Ground from 27th September to 8th October.

To make this event a broad base involving local communalities, tourism and cleanliness drive is being undertaken by the tourist officers in their respective districts.

The Paryatan Bibhag Sanskrutika Parishad (Department’s Cultural Association) will organise cultural function in the evening on the theme of World Tourism Day.
