Odisha BJP proposes Modi to contest from Puri Lok Sabha seat

Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP president Basant Panda on Friday said the party has proposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contest from Puri Lok Sabha constituency in the ensuing 2019 elections.

“We have given a proposal to Prime Minister Modi for contesting the 2019 elections from Puri constituency. The final decision will be taken by the parliamentary board of the party,” said Panda.

BJP leaders hope that the prospect of the party would improve significantly in Odisha if Narendra Modi contests from the state.

Odisha will face both general and Assembly elections in 2019.

The reports in national media suggested that the national leadership of BJP was considering to field Modi from Puri, the land of Lord Jagannath.
