Dharmendra Pradhan visits cyclone hit areas in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said there will be no shortage of money from the Union Government for the people affected by the cyclone Titli and floods.

Pradhan on Thursday visited cyclone affected Gajapati and Ganjam districts and met the people.

The Minister said that people were not warned by the administration about the cyclone or the flood.

He said the administration is yet to restore electricity supply in affected villages.

Asking Odisha Government to sensibly use the disaster relief fund and provide relief to the affected people, Pradhan said,  “There will be no shortage of money from the Union Government for the people. In the time of distress, the Centre will go the extra mile to serve the people of Odisha.”

After visiting and meeting people of flood affected Aska in Ganjam, Pradhan said, “the demands of the people for a proper embankment have been ignored in Aska. It is a man made flood as administration is not alert in Odisha. It is the home district of CM Naveen Patnaik, he was also the Water Resource Minster of the state for a long  time.”

He further said the people are saying that it’s a man made flood rather than a natural disaster.
