Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched a new scheme Soura Jalanidhi that aims to increase use of solar energy in agriculture.
The scheme will create irrigation potential in additional 2500 acres in the state.
Under the Soura Jalanidhi scheme, 5000 solar pumps will be given to farmers of Odisha with up to 90% subsidy.
Farmers belonging to small and marginal categories having minimum 0.5-acre cultivable land holding and a dug well will be covered under the programme.
