Bhubaneswar: Former Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, who retired recently, was on Thursday appointed as the Chief Advisor (Special Initiatives) to the Odisha government.
The Chief Advisor’s rank will be equivalent to that of Chief Secretary, said a notification.
Balakrishnan, in capacity of the Chief Advisor would report directly to the Chief Minister.
He will oversee five areas including special development council, tribal museum, crafts museum, input to heritage cabinet, Odia University and Odia Virtual Academy.
“He will work on a honorary
basis and not draw any remuneration. In order to facilitate his assignment, he
will be provided with an office with supporting staff, vehicle and quarter for
accommodation,” the notification said.
