Odisha police body calls off stir after DGP’s assurance


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Havildar, Constable and Sepoy Mahasangha on Thursday called off its agitation after having a discussion with DGP RP Sharma.

Its association president Santosh Satpathy informed that the DGP has assured to fulfil the demands by this evening.

Protesting against the non-fulfillment of their demands for a long time, Odisha Police, Havildar, Constable and Sepoy Mahasangha earlier on Thursday organised a black badge protest across the state.

The body has threatened that its members will go on mass casual leave on Friday if the matter is not addressed quickly.

The association’s demands include, 13th-month compensatory allowance at par with the monthly salary, increase in special diet, mobility and washing allowances, health insurance to havildars, constables and sepoys and abolition of contractual employment.
