Bhubaneswar: The 15thDhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav jointly organised by Department of Tourism, Orissa Dance Academy and Art Vision unveiled a scintillating evening for its audience with the majestic Dhauli Stupa in the background.
The three-day festival boasts of cultural multiplicity and a whole range of diverse stream of performing arts-be it classical, folk or martial. The penultimate objective of the mahotsav (Festival) is to preserve, promote and popularize the heritage at the national and international level.
The inaugural presentation “Gita Mahatmyam” by the dancers merged the ideas from the Gita. It was choreographed by Aruna Mohanty.
It was followed by the popular Mayurbhanj Chhau Dance “Paika Bidroha”, performed by Mayur Art Centre, Bhubaneswar.
The rhythmic footwork and the flexible movements dominated the evening.
Tourism secretary Vishal Kumar Dev said,
“It is hypnotically lovely to watch the dancers perform with the majestic
Dhauli stupa in the background. To see the packed audience being mesmerised, is
a motivation and encouragement for us as organisers.”
