Bijay Kumar Sharma appointed DGP in-charge of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the appointment of Fire Services DG Bijay Kumar Sharma as the new DGP in-charge of Odisha.

The ECI’s decision came after the incumbent DGP Dr RP Sharma went on leave following the untimely demise of his wife, Tushar Sharma, at Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi early on Sunday.

Due to the model code of conduct in view of the upcoming general elections in Odisha, the state government had recommended names of three DGP rank officers including that of BK Sharma for the DGP post to the ECI.
