5 killed by wild tusker in Odisha’s Talcher


Angul: At least five persons were trampled to death by a wild tusker in two villages near Talcher in Angul district.

The incident took place on Thursday night in Sandha and Sathapada village. Out of five deceased, three are from one family of Sandha village.

A man and his two-year-old daughter were among those killed in the first incident. A woman was also killed by the jumbo in the same village.

In another incident, the wild tusker crushed to death a 70-year-old man in Santhapada village.

The deceased are Kalia Saar (25) and her daughter Anita (2), her sister Anita (12). Another woman who was trampled to death by the elephant has been identified as Sunita (35).

The deceased from Santhapada village is 70-year-old Bhramarbar Samal.
