Reliance Jio remains most preferred service provider in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio has yet again added highest number of mobile subscribers in Odisha leaving far behind all other service providers, as per subscriber data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today for the month of March 2019.

As per this TRAI subscriber data, net subscriber addition by Reliance Jio in the month of March 2019, has been the highest at 3.97 lakhs with BSNL remaining a distant second with net addition of 46,869.

It is worth mentioning here that Reliance Jio has been leading in new subscriber additions with its all 4G network, fast expansion of its 4G network in the hinterlands and the hugely popular ultra-affordable JioPhone – India ka Smartphone.

Overall, the total number of mobile subscribers in Odisha declined by 8.28 lakhs and reached 3.27 crores as on 31st March 2019, said the report.

Jio continued to be the preferred service provider bagging a major chunk of new customers while the overall mobile subscribers in Odisha witnessed sharp decline in March.

Among other service providers, Airtel witnessed the sharpest decline, losing nearly 9.36 lakhs subscribers followed by Vodafone Idea which lost nearly 2.97 lakh subscribers in Odisha in this month. Tata Teleservices lost 39,420 subscribers in Odisha during this period.

Nationally also, Jio continued its excellent march by adding over 94 lakhs subscribers and has been the only service provider to have added net subscribers in this month.

The customers base of Reliance Jio reached 30.67 crores as on March 2019, against 29.72 crores as on February, said the report. During this period Airtel witnessed decrease of 1.51 crores subscribers while Vodafone Idea lost 1.45 crore subscribers, reveals the TRAI report, released today. 

Among others, Tata Teleservices lost 11.5 lakhs subscribers in the month followed by BSNL losing 5.6 lakhs subscribers and MTNL losing 12096 subscribers in the month. Total mobile subscriber base in the country came down by 2.18 crores in March and reached 116 crores from over 118 crores in February 2019.

As per the TRAI data, overall, India’s broadband subscriber base rose to 56.31 crores in March, swelling 2.37 per cent over the previous month. Reliance Jio notched the highest broadband subscriber base of 30.67 crores, followed by a distant second Airtel (11.46 crores), Vodafone Idea (11.02 crores) and BSNL (2.21 crores).
