Ollywood actor Salil Mitra passes away


Bhubaneswar: Ollywood actor and comedian Salil Mitra passed away at a private hospital in Odisha capital last night, said family sources on Tuesday.

He was 52. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Mitra was undergoing treatment at the hospital here after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident near Ghatagaon College square in Keonjhar district on May 12.

He was on his way to Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district when the incident occurred, said sources.

Mitra was initially admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and later shifted to the private hospital.

Mitra, who had started his career from theatre, has acted in several films in Odia cine industry. He had made his debut with ‘Pua Bhangi Dela Suna Sansara’ in 1999.

Salil Mitra has acted in several movies including in ‘Arjun’ (2005), ‘Subh Bibah’ (2010), ‘Hero’ (2011), ‘Balunga Toka’ (2011), ‘Kebe Tume Nahan Kebe Mun Nahin’ (2012), ‘Tu Mo Aarambha Tu Mo Sesha’ (2012), ‘Ganja Ladhei’ (2014), ‘Gapa Hele Bi Sata’ (2015) and ‘Sister Sridevi’ (2017).
