Flipkart Samarth Programme in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Handloom, Textile and Handicraft Department of Odisha government has approved a memorandum of understanding with e-commerce platform Flipkart to increase business and trade inclusion opportunities for weavers and artisans of the state.

Under the MOU, the Flipkart Group will implement its “Flipkart Samarth Programme” in the state to enable national market access for weavers, artisans, and craftsmen to showcase the hallmark products of the state by providing time-bound incubation support.

As part of the initiative, the state government will work with Flipkart Group for engagement with state-owned affiliated enterprises and undertakings that work with local artisans, weavers and crafts producers in Odisha to provide market access, training, and support.

The Flipkart Samarth Programme will open national market access for the weavers and artisans of the state to a growing Pan-India customer base of over 150 million while empowering them to leverage the benefits of the e-commerce model.
