Booking of unreserved tickets through app increases by 315 %


Bhubaneswar: Apart from the booking reserved train tickets online, Railways has provided a digital platform to book unreserved tickets through mobile App “UTS on Mobile” since last year.

UTS on Mobile App provided to enable paperless ticketing of Unreserved Tickets for the passengers.

Now passengers prefer to book unreserved train tickets through their Mobile Phone by using Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) App for their journey without standing at the Booking Counter in a queue.

After the implementation of this App, the Unreserved Ticket Booking in East Coast Railway jurisdiction has set a margin.

During the year (up to 17th December 2019 of the calendar year), the unreserved ticket booking through mobile phone in East Coast Railway jurisdiction has gone up to 9 lakhs 62 thousand and 319 which is 315% more than the last year.

Up to 31st December 2018, the unreserved ticket booking through the mobile phone was only 3 lakhs 5 thousand and 510.

Till 17th December of this year, unreserved ticket booking through mobile phone in Khurda Road Division is 5, 26, 377 numbers of passengers; in Waltair Division is 3, 68, 713 passengers and in Sambalpur Division is 67,230 number of passengers.

In 2018, UTS Tickets booked through Mobile Phone in Khurda Road Division was 1, 63, 994 numbers; Waltair Division 1, 24, 955 numbers and in Sambalpur Division was 16, 561 passengers.

UTS on Mobile App is officially owned by Indian Railways. If we look at the above figure, the numbers of passengers are booking unreserved train tickets through UTS Mobile App and this figure is still growing due to continuous awareness by Railways through different media.

UTS train tickets can be booked between 20 meters and 5 km radius from the Boarding Station and passengers can book tickets from the originating Stations to any destination Station over Indian Railways except Konkan Railway.

East Coast Railway urges passengers to book unreserved train tickets through their mobile phones to avoid the rush and long queues in Booking Counters.
