Odisha weather: Cold wave to prevail for 2-3 days


Bhubaneswar: The weather of Odisha will remain cold in the next 2-3 days as the Met department has predicted that cold wave and cold day is very likely to prevail over several districts in the state.

In view of cold wave condition, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena on Friday asked the district collectors to keep a watch and take appropriate steps to deal with the situation.

Cold wave and cold days are very likely to prevail in the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore in the next 2-3 days.

Night temperature (minimum temperature) is very like to fall gradually by 4 degree to 6 degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha during the next 2-3 days.

Dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of north Odisha and Kandhamal, Puri, Khurdha, Sonepur, and Kalahandi on 27-28 December and in the districts of coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar,  Balasore, and Angul.

In view of this, the SRC asked the collectors to ensure that people having no proper house may be allowed to take shelter during night hours in schools and other public buildings.

He also directed to take steps for proper management of night shelters in urban areas.

The SRC has also issued an advisory for people in view of the prevailing cold wave condition in the state.
