Severe cold wave conditions continue to grip Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Cold wave condition has gripped Odisha as 15 places recorded minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius on Sunday.

Sonepur recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 3.4 degree Celsius.

As per the latest weather reports issued by the Met department, Daringbadi recorded the minimum temperature of 5.5 degree Celsius followed by 4.6 in Angul, 6.1 in Titlagarh, 6.5 in Bhawanipatna, 6.6 in Keonjhar, 7.3 in Jharsuguda and 7.4 in Sambalpur.

Twin cities-Cuttack and Bhubaneswar-recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 and 10.2 degree Celsius, respectively.

Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar informed that they have already issued cold wave alert for several districts in north interior Odisha including Keonjhar, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal and Angul.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena asked all district collectors to take all precautionary steps to mitigate the adverse impacts of such cold wave.

“Keep all blocks, tahsils and Gram Panchayats alert to take appropriate action in this regard. The poor and the vulnerable who may need help for night shelters, schools, and public buildings may be opened to provide shelter in nights,” said Jena.
