Novel coronavirus: 96 travellers under home quarantine in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: As many as 96 people in Odisha are under observation for coronavirus, said an official on Wednesday.

Till date, 96 travelers who have returned from Corona affected countries after January 15 have been identified by the state surveillance system and kept under home quarantine, said the official.

State Health Control Room is functioning 24×7 and queries of people are being addressed by Control Room number 0674-2390466.

As nCoV (Covid-19) has no definite treatment so prevention is the best.

Accordingly, wide publicity is being done to create awareness in the community through health education messages especially on handwashing, cough etiquette and home isolation by electronic, print media, radio jingles & leaflets, etc.

Meanwhile, after a pathological report of Bhubaneswar-based AMRI hospital indicating a patient detected with coronavirus went viral on social media, the Health Department issued clarifications in this regard.

The Health department clarified that coronavirus mentioned in the report is a common coronavirus and not the novel coronavirus or new coronavirus (COVID-19).

It said only the National Institute of Virology in Pune and some limited Government Laboratories have the facility to test COVID-19.
