Odisha govt fully prepared to tackle Novel Coronavirus: Minister


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is fully prepared to tackle situations relating to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), said Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Tuesday.

The Minister said several steps have been taken in the state including creation of isolation wards to tackle the situation.

He said that airports at Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda were put on alert for the screening of patients suspected of being infected with Coronavirus.

The Airports Authority of India has also issued a similar direction, said B V Rao, director of Bhubaneswar airport.

A couple from Uttar Pradesh, working in a Singaporean cargo ship, was on Tuesday admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after the man developed a mild fever on its arrival at Paradip port here from China.

“One number of suspect from a cargo ship from Paradeep Port along with his spouse have been admitted to isolation facility of SCBMCH, Cuttack today. Till date 119 no. of travelers who have returned from Corona affected countries after 15th Jan 2020 have been identified by the state surveillance system and kept under home quarantine,” said a health department statement.
