Bhubaneswar: Odisha has reported its first case of Coronavirus.

A student who returned from Italy to Bhubaneswar tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

Issuing an official confirmation, Odisha government’s COVID-19 spokesperson Subroto Bagchi said the 33-yr-old Italy-return patient admitted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar has been tested positive for Coronavirus.

The Regional Medical Research Centre confirmed that the 33 yr old youth from Bhubaneswar has been infected with COVID-19.

The student is being kept under observation in an isolated ward in Capital Hospital here.

The man took a train from Delhi to Bhubaneshwar, amid the ongoing scare related to the virus.

He had no symptoms when he landed at New Delhi. However, the man reported at Capital Hospital after he developed symptoms. Tests were conducted at RMRC twice yesterday to get it confirmed, said an official.

“One positive case of coronavirus detected in Odisha. He has travel history to Italy. He later took a train from Delhi to Bhubaneswar. The patient is admitted at a Bhubaneswar hospital,” said Dr. CBK Mohanty, Director of Health & Education Training.
