Complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak for coronavirus


Bhubaneswar: In order to contain community transmission of coronavirus, Bhubaneswar city and Bhadrak town will be under complete shutdown for 48 hours starting at 8 pm on Friday.

Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy announced complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar City limits and Bhadrak Municipal restriction between 8pm tonight till 8PM of Sunday, 5th April. 

All passes issued stand suspended during these 48 hours. All exceptions allowed in MHA notification stand withdrawn by SDMA.

Ambulance services have been increased in Bhubaneswar to address medical emergencies while several medicine shops will remain closed during the shutdown, informed DGP Abhay.

All shops including those dealing in grocery, vegetable, fruit, milk etc, all business centres and other establishments will remain closed.

Only health, police and some limited emergency services will be available in the shutdown period.

The medicine stores identified by Municipal Authorities/ Drug Controller will remain open.

Special pass shall be issued by the police Authorities to facilitate people involved in emergency services exempted under the shutdown.

Persons violating the shutdown regulations will be taken into 14 days compulsory Government quarantine and will be prosecuted under Disaster Management Act-2005 and IPC.
