Entertainment industry helps daily wage earners


Bhubaneswar: Top players of the media and entertainment industry have come forward to support the daily wage earners who have lost their livelihood due to suspension of production activities during the lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.

The sudden halt impacted the sustenance of the daily wage earners involved in the activities across the production chain— artists, cameramen, spot boys, light boys and their dependent families.

Zee Group and Zee Sarthak have offered financial help to daily wage earners, working directly or indirectly in the company’s various productions.

They have arranged payment of one month salary to all dailywage earners working with the productions houses of the channel.

Abiding by the noble gesture by Zee Sarthak, leading production house of Odisha’s Akshay Parija Productions have released 15 days salary of 48 daily workers in light, spot, camera, etc in their production house and undertaking to pay another 15 days by 25th of April.

“We stand committed to financially support all the daily wage earners working in our production ecosystem. In these challenging times, it is extremely critical for India and also for our state.

We wholeheartedly support and appreciate such a significant gesture by Zee Sarthak. As our sympathetic approach, we have already committed to giving an amount of Rs 200 per person per week during lockdown,’’ said Akshay Kumar Parija, Managing Director of AKP Production.
