Bhubaneswar: As many as four Maoists were killed during an exchange of fire with the security personnel at Sirla forest in Tumudibandha area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Sunday.
Odisha Police said security forces were fired upon during combing in the forest and they fired back in self-defence.
Four Maoists were gunned down during the exchange of bullets. The deceased include three male and one female.
The combing operation was going on.
“There was an exchange of fire between Maoists and SOG, DVF at Tumudibandha, Kandhamal. Security forces were fired upon & they fired back in self-defence. There are four casualties on Maoists side. Some of them are injured. Combing operations are on in the area. SP is at the spot,” tweeted Odisha Police.
