Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered the biggest single-day spike of 1833 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total positive numbers to 42550, informed I&PR Department on Friday.
The state also reported the highest single-day spike of 12 death cases due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll increased to 247 in Odisha.
While Ganjam and Sundargarh districts reported three deaths each, one each COVId-19 death was reported from Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur districts.
Of the fresh positive cases, 1118 cases were detected from quarantines while 715 are local contact cases.
The maximum 298 cases were reported from Khurda district followed by Ganjam (279), Rayagada (152) Cuttack (124), and Sundergarh (110).
