Govt proposes to reserve Mayor posts of BMC, BeMC for women

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday issued a gazette notification proposing reservation of Mayor posts for different categories in the three municipal corporations of Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack.

The Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department has issued a notification in this regard.

As per the notification, while the Office of Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been proposed for reservation for the ‘Woman category’, the Office of the Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation has been proposed for the ‘Un-Reserved category’.

The H&UD Department through the notification has invited objections and suggestions from all persons interested which can be filed before the Director Municipal Administration within a period of 15 days from the date of its publication.

The notification further states that any objection or suggestion received in respect of the said proposal within the specified period shall be considered by the State government.
