Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday announced to hold elections to the 109 urban local bodies including three Municipal Corporations in the state on March 24.
The counting and declaration of results will be held on March 26, said State Election Commissioner AP Padhi.
Padhi said that the elections to 106 Municipalities/NACs and three Municipal Corporations will be held on March 24, 2022.
The general elections will be held for the purpose of reconstituting/constituting the 106 municipalities/NACs and three municipal corporations – Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).
The election will not be held for Raurkela and Sambalpur Municipal Corporations due to pending court cases.
This time, direct election will be held for the posts of Mayor and Chairperson.

– Nomination filing March 2-7
– Nomination withdrawal last date – March 14
– Counting of votes on March 26
For the first time, NOTA option will be available for voters during elections.
– 2 EVMs will be used in each booth
