Eminent Academician Prof. Aditya Prasad Padhy paid two days visit to Central University of Odisha to review the progress of various developmental activities of the University and to mentor the students, teachers and staff to make the University is one of the best learning centres of higher education of the state.
Prof. Padhy is the UGC nominee to Executive Council of Central University of Odisha, member of Finance Committee and Chairman, Project Monitoring Committee of CUO, member of advisory board of NAAC and former Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University.
He addressed the teachers and Officers on best practices of teaching and learning and how to excel academically and administratively on 28 March 2022. Prof. S. K. Palita, Vice-Chancellor in-charge presided over the meeting and expressed that quality assurance needs to be a way of life in any academic institution. Dr. Asit Kumar Das, Registrar delivered the welcome address and spoke on the importance of the quality assurance and sustenance.
Prof. Padhy highlighted various key aspects of academic excellence including learning management systems and its benefits, outcome-based teaching and learning. He said “For achieving academic excellence there are three dimensions i.e. excellence in teaching learning, excellence in research and excellence in outreach activities.
For Excellency in teaching learning teachers have to ensure optimal learning by the learners through outcome-based teaching learning system and for research, each faculty needs to publish at least one research papers in Scopus or Web of Science in an academic year. For excellence in outreach activities, stakeholders of educational institutions need to get involved with industries and corporate houses”. He advised teachers and Officers to work for 25hours daily out of the 24 hours for the growth and the development of the University. Education is not about surface learning it is about deep learning he emphasized. Prof Padhy along with Prof. S.K. palita VC (I/c) inaugurated publication of a e-proceed named “Ray and After” by the faculty of Dept. of J&MAC.
He visited the construction site of the University on 29 March 2022 where one permanent academic block and staff quarters are coming up and reviewed the progress. He also paid a visit to the Central Library of the University andadvised Library officials to motivate the students for best use of library resources.
He is quite happy to see the plantations area where medicinal and ornamental plants were grownup by the district forest division. He advised the University officials to take-ups revenue yielding plantation in suitable patches in consultation with scientist of Agricultural University or Forest Institute.
He addressed the students of the University in a programme with the theme ‘How to be successful in life’ on 29 February. He said “each moment is important for all of us particularly for students to be successful. So, each student must use their time properly to achieve the target.
Student need to have will, desire and determination to succeed in life”. Prof. Padhy also interacted with non-teaching staff. He advised the staff for a dedicated work to take CUO forward. Both these meetings were chaired by the Vice Chancellor (I/c).
