Odisha: Brother-sister die, mother critical after consuming pesticides

Bargarh: Earlier today, tragedy struck as a family of three in Bargarh attempted suicide by consuming pesticides. Two members of the family, a brother and sister, lost their lives during the course of medical treatment. Meanwhile, the mother’s condition remains critical.

This heart-wrenching incident is believed to have been triggered by the recent loss of the woman’s husband just five days ago. Overwhelmed by grief, the devastated mother, accompanied by her two children, resorted to consuming pesticides.

Local residents swiftly acted, rushing the victims to Bargarh Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, due to the severity of their condition, they were subsequently transferred to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VSSIMSAR) Burla Hospital. Unfortunately, the man could not be saved and was declared brought dead. Tragically, the woman also succumbed to her condition despite undergoing treatment.

At present, the mother’s health is stated to be critical.
