Vigilance court confiscates assets worth Rs 5.86 crore of BMC former engineer


Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance Confiscation Court, Bhubaneswar has ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets worth over Rs 5.86 crore of a former engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The court ordered the confiscation of disproportionate assets of Subash Chandra Mishra.

The confiscated assets include two double-storeyed buildings, one single-storeyed building, and three plots in Bhubaneswar and Bhimpur, bank and insurance deposits, investments in shares, and gold ornaments weighing over 2.5 kg.

The Odisha Vigilance had submitted charge-sheet against Mishra under the Prevention of Corruption Act for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The investigation, led by Trinath Patel, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Cell Division, revealed a significant discrepancy between Mishra’s income and his assets, leading to the confiscation order.

The Odisha Vigilance Directorate had moved the authorized officer of the Confiscation Court for the confiscation of the assets, which was granted after a thorough hearing. Manas Ranjan Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, represented the Odisha Vigilance in the case.
