Subhadra Yojana (ସୁଭଦ୍ରା ଯୋଜନା): All women members of family to be included

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State government has brought good news for women across the state by announcing the ‘SUBHADRA’ scheme, which will provide financial assistance to all female members of a family.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida revealed that every woman in a household, regardless of the number of female members, will benefit from the scheme. Additionally, widows and girl students receiving scholarships are also eligible for this financial aid.

Under the SubhadraYojana, beneficiaries will receive ₹10,000 annually, disbursed in two instalments directly into their bank accounts. These payments will be made on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day. Over the next five years, each woman will receive a total of ₹50,000.

Subhadra Yojana application forms will be available for free at Anganwadi centres, Block offices, Mo Seva Kendras, and Jan Seva Kendras. The government also plans to launch a dedicated portal for the scheme and establish a call centre for support. The scheme is set to be officially launched on September 17, 2024.

To be eligible, women must be residents of Odisha, aged between 21 and 60 years as of July 1, 2024, with age verification based on their Aadhaar card. However, women who receive financial assistance of ₹1,500 or more per month, or ₹18,000 or more per year under any other government scheme, will not be eligible. Other exclusions include women or their family members who are sitting or former MPs or MLAs, income tax payers, elected representatives of Panchayati Raj bodies or Urban Local Bodies (except ward members and councillors), employees, and pension holders of government undertakings and boards.

Families with irrigated land of five acres or more, un-irrigated land of ten acres or more, or those owning tractors, mini-trucks, light commercial vehicles, and four-wheelers are also ineligible. Additionally, families with an annual income exceeding ₹2.5 lakh will not qualify for the scheme. Women from economically well-off families, government servants, or Income Tax payees will not be eligible under the ‘SUBHADRA’ scheme.
