Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at creating a cohesive aesthetic across the state, the BJP government in Odisha has announced plans to standardize the colour of all government buildings.
After a change in the uniform colours for Class IX and X students in government and aided schools, the government has decided to change the colour of all government buildings across the state.
New colour code details
According to a letter issued by the Works Department, all government buildings in Odisha will be painted in a uniform colour scheme. The exterior walls will be adorned in a warm orange shade, specifically designated with an RGB value of (254, 190, 152), while the borders will feature a contrasting red shade, represented by an RGB value of (177, 85, 79).
This decision applies not only to new constructions but also to existing buildings during their periodical repair or renovation.
The directive was communicated to engineers-in-chief and other relevant authorities within the Works Department.
The letter outlined the government’s approval for the adoption of this uniform colour code, stating, “I am directed to communicate the approval of Government to adopt uniform colour code henceforth for all new Government buildings as well as existing Government buildings at the time of periodical repair/ renovation work.”
