Bhubaneswar: On October 9, the Odisha government marked Durga Puja celebrations by crediting the second phase of the Rs 5,000 disbursement under the Subhadra Yojana directly to beneficiaries’ accounts.
While this initiative aims to support women across the state, many are still waiting for the first installment, leading to widespread frustration among thousands who have yet to receive their funds.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has addressed these concerns, assuring that payments for the first installment will continue until every eligible applicant is compensated.
“We will ensure that every deserving woman in the state receives the Subhadra support. Those who have not received their money will be included in the third phase, with the announcement date coming soon,” Parida stated.
So far, approximately 1.6 million women have registered for the scheme, with sufficient funds available to support all applicants. However, some have encountered difficulties due to glitches in the registration process or other issues.
Parida emphasized that the government is committed to reaching out to affected women to address their concerns.
To further assist those facing delays, verification will take place at the block level. Anganwadi workers have been tasked with conducting door-to-door surveys to identify beneficiaries who have not yet received their payments. This proactive approach aims to ensure that no eligible woman is left without support.
