Traffic restrictions in Bhubaneswar on October 14 for Durga idol immersion


Bhubaneswar: In light of the upcoming idol immersion procession of Goddess Durga, various traffic restrictions will be enforced in Bhubaneswar on October 14. The Twin City Commissionerate Police has announced that these restrictions will be in effect from 3 PM until 1 AM, or until the procession concludes, whichever comes first.

Details of the Traffic Restrictions

  1. Saheed Nagar Immersion Procession:
    • Traffic intending to proceed towards Rupali Square from the Vani Vihar side will be diverted towards Acharya Vihar.
  2. Janpath Road:
    • All types of vehicles will be prohibited from plying on Janpath. Drivers will be redirected to Sachivalay Marg and adjacent roads. This regulation will be enforced from 3 PM or the starting time of the procession, whichever is later, until 1 AM or the conclusion of the procession, whichever is earlier.
  3. Rajdhani Mandir Suraksha Bhasani Samiti, Nayapalli:
    • Vehicles heading towards Cuttack from the CRP Square side will be redirected towards Jaydev Vihar via Ekamra Park and Biju Pattnaik College. This regulation will take effect from 3 PM or the starting time of the procession and will continue until 1 AM or until the procession passes CRP Square, whichever is earlier. Traffic on Stewart School Road, Unit-8 Road, and the OUAT square-New Airport road will also be diverted to nearby roads.
  4. Uttar Bhubaneswar Vasani Committee-C.S. Pur:
    • Traffic heading towards Nalco Square from the KIIT side will be redirected to adjacent roads from Nandan Kanan Jayadev Vihar Road. This restriction will commence at 3 PM or the starting time of the procession and will remain until 1 AM or until the Medhas disperse, whichever comes first.
  5. Heavy Vehicles from Khurdha:
    • Heavy vehicles coming from the Khurdha side towards Bhubaneswar will be diverted at the starting point of the Fire Station Over Bridge towards the flyover. No vehicles will be permitted on the service road.

Emergency Services Exempted

It is important to note that these traffic regulations will not apply to emergency vehicles, including those from the police, fire brigade, excise, and ambulances.

Additional Traffic Update

A traffic alert is also in place for 6:00 PM today due to the Ravan Podi event. The traffic situation remains normal in several areas including Jharpada, Laxmisagar, Bomikhal, Saheed Nagar, Palasuni, and Nayapalli. However, moderate congestion has been reported in Rashulgarh and Old Station Bazar due to the influx of devotees. The Commissionerate Police is actively managing the situation to ensure smooth traffic flow.
