Puri: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri today, marking her first trip to the holy site since assuming office.
Accompanied by Puri Lok Sabha Member Dr. Sambit Patra and Odisha’s Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Gupta arrived at the temple in the morning and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath.
Speaking after the darshan, Gupta expressed her gratitude, stating, “This is my first visit to Puri Jagannath Dham after becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi. I have sought Lord Jagannath’s blessings for the development of our city. With his divine guidance, we will strive for a ‘Viksit Delhi’ and celebrate the ‘Utsav Diwas’ in Delhi.”
On the occasion of Amavasya, Gupta prayed for a smooth path of progress for the nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding, “We hope that the journey we are undertaking to make India and Delhi more prosperous will always be blessed and clear. By the Lord’s grace, we are working together towards a developed Delhi.”
She also extended early wishes to the Odia community both in Puri and in Delhi for the upcoming Utkal Dibas. “We will celebrate Odisha Day with much fanfare in Delhi,” Gupta affirmed.
The Chief Minister praised the contributions of Odisha families in Delhi, highlighting their hard work in the city’s development. “Odia families in Delhi are an integral part of our city’s progress. I assure them that the Delhi government is committed to supporting their welfare and development,” Gupta remarked.
BJP MP Dr. Sambit Patra also shared his thoughts, noting, “Our esteemed Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, alongside Minister Pravesh Verma and other MPs, visited Jagannath Dham in Puri. She mentioned that it was the Lord’s call that brought her here. After offering her respects at the temple, she prayed for India’s future and a more developed nation. She also conveyed her heartfelt wishes to all on Utkal Divas, announcing that the celebration will be held with enthusiasm in Delhi, recognizing the significant role of Odias in the city’s growth.”
