Bhubaneswar: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Saswata Mishra has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Odisha, according to an official notification issued today by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department.
Currently, Mishra holds the position of Principal Secretary in the Finance Department and also serves as the Chairman of the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) on an additional charge basis.
With this new appointment, he will continue to retain his responsibilities as Principal Secretary Finance and Chairman of IDCO while taking on the significant role of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
The appointment of Saswata Mishra follows the departure of senior Odisha cadre IAS officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal, who was serving as Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Dhal has proceeded on central deputation and has been posted as Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs after approval by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet (ACC). The 1993-batch IAS officer’s move created the vacancy that Mishra now fills.
