Tata Steel sets up solar-based drip irrigation project in Keonjhar


Keonjhar: Tata Steel’s solar-based drip irrigation project at Jhumkapatia in Bamnipal was inaugurated by Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Project Director, DRDA Keonjhar.

This project will bring 7.5-acre of land under cultivation round the year.

A Self-Help Group consisting of seven members from Jhumkapatia Hamlet of Rasol village has already started vegetable cultivation under this project. Each member is cultivating 30 decimal lands and expecting an income of Rs 20,000 to 25,000 from one crop.

With the use Drip & Mulching technology, they will be able to take 3 to 4 crops in a year. Tata Steel has collaborated with CInI (Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives), a national-level reputed non-government organization to improve the economic condition of the people of Bamnipal by constantly updating their knowledge on farming and other important agricultural practices.
