Panchayat polls: BJP Chief Ministers to campaign in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP is all set to rope in leaders from neighboring states to canvass votes for the party candidates in the ensuing panchayat polls.

The party has decided to revise the star campaigners list already submitted to the State Election Commission (SEC).

“Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh will be the party’s star campaigner for the ensuing panchayat polls. Some other Chief Ministers of neighboring states and parliamentarians will be added to the list of the party’s star campaigners,” said BJP’s state pravari Arun Singh.

Notably, the saffron party had earlier made changes to the list of star campaigners twice. It had added senior leaders Bijoy Mohapatra and Dilip Ray in the star campaigners list. They did not find a place in the first list.

BJP on Saturday released an audio CD and posters for its campaigning for panchayat elections.

The party has prepared three songs highlighting the failure of BJD government and the alleged ‘tacit relationship’ between the BJD and Congress.

“The panchayat elections will bring decisive changes in the state’s politics. Our party will emerge stronger after the elections,” said Sameer Mohanty.
