Odisha Congress observes ‘Chaka jam’ against fuel price hike

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress on Monday observed a six-hour ‘Chaka jam’ in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar protesting against the rising prices of petroleum products across the country.

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) observed a six-hour ‘Chaka jam’ in the twin city from 6 am to 12 noon.

The vehicular movement in the twin city came to a standstill as the party workers took to streets from early in the morning. Congress workers resorted to road blocking, burning tires at important junctions as well as picketings in both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack cities.

General public and office-goers were seen facing lots of problems and harrowing experience.

“I am overwhelmed by the support we have received from residents of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to our call for protest against rising fuel prices. It’s not a bandh, but a protest by Odisha Congress, where people from all walks of life have joined us in not using their vehicles till 12 noon today,” said PCC president Niranjan Patnaik.
