Smuggled gold seized at Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: Customs officials on Thursday seized 295 grams of gold worth Rs 9 lakh from a passenger at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here.

The passenger arrived here from Bangkok.

Acting on a tip-off, the customs official intercepted the youth who arrived from Bangkok in an Air India flight AI-339 at the airport here and after a thorough search of the youth’s body, the sleuths found gold.

Sources said the accused was detained and being interrogated.
