BHUBANESWAR: With the cyclonic storm Roanu moving towards the coast of Bangladesh, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said there was no danger for Odisha as the cyclone is gradually moving away from its shores.
“The cyclonic storm ‘ROANU’ over Northwest Bay of Bengal moved East-Northeastwards at a speed of 40 kmph during past six hours and lay centred at about 400 km East-Northeast of Paradeep,” said the IMD.
It said that the system is likely to move east-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast close to Chittagong by Saturday evening as a cyclonic storm.
It, however, predicted that Odisha likely to receive rainfall in several parts of the state under the impact of the cyclone.
Meanwhile, it has lowered danger signal at all ports in Odisha even though it advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea.
