BHUBANESWAR: After rusticating five students for a period of one year over alleged ragging on the campus recently, the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) authorities on Wednesday said another three students found guilty had been rusticated from the college for a year while two others have been expelled from the hostel for a year.
Besides, ten others have slapped with Rs 5,000 penalty each.
This was informed by OUAT Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Manoranjan Kar on Wednesday.
The VC said that such actions had been initiated after the decision taken by the University Academic Council.
Notably, 12 junior students of Forestry Department had complained of ragging by senior students on November 24.
Angry junior students had gheraoed the office of Dean demanding action and had also lodged an FIR at Khandagiri Police Station.
Some of the boarders of Pathani Samanta Hostel of OUAT had alleged that they were beaten brutally by the seniors on November 19 night, and two of them were seriously injured in the incident.
Police had also summoned 12 students over the ragging.
