BHUBANESWAR: Appearance of a snake in the premises of Odisha assembly on Thursday triggered panic among the lawmakers and the staff.
Snake Helpline members, who rescued the snake, confirmed it to be a cobra.
According to sources, the snake was spotted near the parking lot on the premises of the assembly at between 10.30 am and 11 am when the Ministers, MLAs and journalists are on their way to attend the ongoing winter session of the assembly.
The security officials rushed to the spot and informed the Snake Helpline.
After being informed, the rescue team rushed to the spot and caught the cobra. This is the third time snake appeared in the assembly premises and coincidentally whenever the session in on.
In 2009, the assembly failed to transact any business after being considered unsafe, all because a snake had mysteriously crept into the house.
From snake-charmers and wildlife experts to cops, legislators, shutterbugs and sniffer dogs, all converged for the cause. But none succeeded to locate the snake.
Meanwhile, the assembly security personnel and Snake Helpline members have launched an operation on the premises in order to make the security arrangement tight.
