BHUBANESWAR: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has started the process for holding organisational polls with announcing dates for the party polls on Thursday.
In the first phase, primary committees at panchayat and ward level in urban areas will be elected on January 14.
Block, Nagar and council committees will be finalised in the second phase on January 21 while district committees and district presidents will be elected in the third phase on January 31.
On March 1, the president will be elected, said party sources.
The BJD has already appointed district returning officers (DROs) for 32 organisational districts to conduct the party polls.
State Returning Officer (SRO) Pratap Keshari Deb said that the state council would be elected in the fourth phase.
The council will have 147 elected members for each of the assembly constituencies.
Besides, all MPs, MLAs and district presidents will be members of the council. The State executive including the party president will be elected in the fifth phase of the election. The State Executive will have 81 members.
