BHUBANESWAR: In the wake of terrorist attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) base at Pathankot in Punjab, Biju Patnaik International Airport authorities have restricted the entry of visitors into the terminal for seven days.
The airport authorities have restricted the entry of visitors to both the domestic and international terminals following security measures.
Only passengers would be allowed into the terminal with proper identification and check, said an official.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around the airport.
Biju Patnaik International Airport director Sharad Kumar said; “Bhubaneswar air terminal is one of the delicate air terminals in the eastern district. Considering the late capture of an Al Qaeda agent in Cuttack and a terrorist assault on Pathankot air base today, we are on the high alarm.”
He said the CISF workforces are investigating every possibility with tight watching and strict vigil. They have raised their ready level.
“We have redesigned our security address framework and reached the State Police and asked them to ensure sufficient measures,” he added.
