SAMBALPUR: Coal major Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has crossed the 100 million tonnes coal production milestone in a record 281 days during the current financial year 2015-16.
“Working hours on January 6, 2016, ended with the MCL registering 100.03 million tonne coal production. The company, on December 28, 2015, had crossed 100 million tonnes dispatch of coal to its various consumers, primarily the power producers across the country,” an MCL spokesperson said Thursday.
MCL, which had produced 121 million tonnes of coal during the last financial year 2014-15, has consolidated all efforts to achieve the 150 million tonne coal production target in current fiscal.
MCL, a leading subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is operating in Odisha since 1992. In 1992, it started with mere 23 million tonnes of coal production and had consistently grown to become the leading coal producing company in the country, with excellence in all facets of operations, the spokesperson added.
