Modi to have darshan of Jagannath from outer barricade


PURI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive in Odisha on a two-day visit, would be paying obeisance to Lord Jagannath in Srimandir from the outer barricade as the repair would start from Wednesday inside the sanctum sanctorum.

It was decided in a meeting between Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator and servitors’ bodies on Monday.

The Prime Minister will have the darshan of the Trinity from the outer wooden barricade to the sanctum sanctorum through Jaya Bijay Dwar, said an official of SJTA.

During PM’s visit, entry of devotees and others will be restricted for a brief period.

Apart from the security and other aspects, the meeting also discussed the loss of earning of the servitors due to restrictions of devotees entering the sanctum sanctorum of the mandir following the Jagamohan repair work.

The repair work of Jagamohan will begin tomorrow; during repair work, all the rituals of the Lord will be followed.

Notably, Modi will address two meetings, besides seeking blessings of Lord Jagannath at Puri.

Modi will arrive in Odisha on February 6. He will dedicate the oil refinery plant of IOCL at Paradip, and he is scheduled to inaugurate the permanent campus of National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) near Jatani here on February 7.
