BHUBANESWAR: In order to promote brand Odisha, the state government has decided to participate in the ambitious Make in India week scheduled from February 13 to 18 in Mumbai.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would attend the event on February 14 and launch an e-biz portal that aims to fast track approvals online of different statutory clearances required by the investors.
The portal would provide altogether 15 services related to water resources, commercial taxes, and Odisha State Pollution Control Board consent.
Another mechanism, central inspection and coordination (CIC), which aims to ensure coordination among different agencies to fast-track investment, would also be unveiled, said sources.
The source added that the state government had sent invitations to investors like Tata Group, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance, Vedanta, Essar Group and many others for interaction with the Chief Minister at Mumbai.
Notably, the state government last year unveiled new Industrial Policy providing incentives to industries. It also simplified various policies for ease of doing business.
The Make in India week focuses on 11 key sectors those have the potential to attract investment in the manufacturing sector. These are aerospace and defence, automobiles and automobile components, chemicals and petrochemicals, construction equipment, materials and technology, food processing, infrastructure development, IT and electronics, industrial equipment and machinery, micro, small and medium enterprises, pharmaceuticals and textiles.
To promote Odisha as the most favoured destination, the state government has roped in leading marketing communication agency J Walter Thompson to build Brand Odisha.
While the Odisha Vision-2019 aimed at industrial development through manufacturing, the state has the objective for 60 per cent increase in the manufacturing sector.
