Odisha Govt To Hold Job Fairs Every Quarter In District Level


BHUBANESWAR: After failing to organise special recruitment drive announced to be held in September 2014, the Odisha government has come out with fresh proposals to conduct job fairs in each district that too every quarter.

The state-level joint conference of district employment officers (DEOs) and project implementing agencies (PIAs) held here recently has decided to conduct job fairs every quarter at the district level to provide employment to the skilled youth.

Skill development and technical education secretary LN Gupta has asked the DEOs to organise at least one job fair every quarter in each district with the support of local industries and district industry centres.

It was decided that PIAs would facilitate in imparting skill development training to at least 2,000 youth during the current financial year.

Department sources said 13,181 youth had been trained through 159 training centres in 28 districts in 2015-16 while 53,792 youth had been trained during the last four years.
