BHUBANESWAR: Rairangpur MLA Saiba Sushil Kumar Hansdah has landed in trouble after a woman of Mayurbhanj on Monday alleged that the MLA has been trying to kill her with the help of his associates as she had rebuffed his sexual overtures.
The 32-year-old woman, in her petition filed with the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), alleged that MLA Saiba Sushil Kumar Hansdah has been asking for sexual favours to release funds for implementation of social schemes and was not letting her work.
The woman further alleged that two of the MLA’s associates insulted her during a function on April 14 in connection with the Aahar scheme and used obscene language and even threatened to shoot her.
The petitioner said that she had to run away from the function to save her life.
A case was registered against the two associates by Rairangpur police, and the two were charged with outraging a woman’s modesty, possessing illegal arms and atrocity against Adivasis under the SC/ST Act. However, the two have not been arrested so far.
The complainant alleged that she had taken shelter in the city for fear of her life.
Taking note of the complaint, OHRC has ordered a probe and asked the Mayurbhanj SP to submit a report within three weeks.
However, Hansdah could not be contacted during the filing of the report on Tuesday.
