BHUBANESWAR: While both ruling BJD and opposition locked horn over the transaction of money to BJD account in the house of the Odisha assembly, the income tax department has initiated its probe over the so far controversial transaction.
The IT department has written a letter to the State Bank of India main branch manager seeking details about the bank account owned by the ruling party.
Sources said the IT department may seize the bank account for further probe.
Notably, the Assembly witnessed noisy scenes on Wednesday over the transaction of Rs 8 crore to the BJD account.
The speaker adjourned the house several times as he failed to restore normalcy in the house.
